Three Cups of Tea
by Greg Mortenson & David Oliver Relin
In Three Cups of Tea: One Man’s Mission to Promote Peace . . . One School at a Time , Greg Mortenson, and journalist David Oliver Relin, recount the journey that led Mortenson from a failed 1993 attempt to climb Pakistan’s K2, the world’s second highest mountain, to successfully establish schools in some of the most remote regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. By replacing guns with pencils, rhetoric with reading, Mortenson combines his unique background with his intimate knowledge of the third-world to promote peace with books, not bombs, and successfully bring education and hope to remote communities in central Asia. Three Cups of Tea is at once an unforgettable adventure and the inspiring true story of how one man really is changing the world—one school at a time.

A Town Like Paris: Falling In Love In The City Of Lights
by Bryce Corbett
OK, I know I've been over the top with the french books but I laughed through this whole book. I thought we could use a book that was just funny and entertaining. Part of what I found so funny about this book is that after being in Paris I could picture a lot of what the author was describing. It is a true story and may not offer the best discussion we'll ever have after a book but I hope it will make you laugh. Check out Bryce Corbett's website and blog but don't do it until after youve read the book, the site gives some things away.

Deb's Choice
Suite Francaise by Irene Nemirovsky
How was the book?
Well, Deb didn't really care for the book but comments were mostly positive. (Deb didn't completely get through the whole book.) The first section was so long and had so many different characters that it was easy to lose interest. The second and third sections were shorter and brought the characters together which helped grab the reader.
It's always interesting to learn about actual events throughout history and this book offered a glimpse into WW2 from someone who actually lived it. Unfortunately, Irene Nemirovsky didn't escape the horrors of the Germans and died in Auschwitz. We all agreed that her story would be a fascinating read.
Additional Info:
Shannon found some additional information out on Wikipedia. If you would like more info on the book Suite Francaise or the author Irene Nemirovsky just click on these links.
